Matthew 18:32-33

"Then summoning him, his lord said to him, 'You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?'"

Our forgiveness of others comes from remembering God's great mercy toward us. (2 Peter 1:9, "For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.")
