Matthew 19:25-26

"When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, 'Then who can be saved?' And looking at them Jesus said to them, 'With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'"
Matthew 19:25-26 (NASB)

It's impossible for "people" (us) to have anything to do with our salvation. God alone chooses us, redeems us, sanctifies us, declares us righteous "in Christ." "But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption" (1 Corinthians 1:30).
