Isaiah 53:5

"But he was wounded and bruised for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace; he was lashed—and we were healed!"

By Christ's suffering on the cross, we are spared God's punishment. We are saved. We are given a brand new identity: "righteous in Christ." We are given a life of hope, peace, and joy (through the Holy Spirit in us). Praise the Lord!
