Titus 3:4-5

"But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit."

Titus 3:4-5 (NASB)

We're saved solely by God's mercy; not by any good we've done. God's "kindness" (what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross) is our total salvation. (1 Corinthians 1:30, "... [we] are in Christ Jesus, who became to us … righteousness …")
