Proverbs 15:28
"The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things."
Proverbs 15:28 (NASB)
"Ponders how to answer" means considering what the scripture says about what we're thinking of saying before we say it. (Ephesians 4:29, "Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear." 1 Corinthians 13:1-2, "If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing." James 3:6, "And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.")
